Liston

High in the mountains of the Great Dividing Range, Liston is surrounded by lush rolling hills, open pastures and natural bushland. To the east, the hills fall away to Rivertree, the headwaters of the Clarence River.

Liston was a key point on the old Cobb & Co coach route from Brisbane to Tenterfield. Historically the area was the centre of a busy tin and silver mining industry. Only a few relics remain, including the historic Rivertree Chimney and the old settlers’ cemetery at Wilson’s Downfall.

The Liston Hall often has events on, and in central Liston there is a playground and picnic area. Close to Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt Wine Region, Storm King Dam and Bald Rock and Boonoo Boonoo National Parks. Aloomba lavender is open to the public and offers a giftshop, coffee and camping. There are also self-contained cottages located in the heart of Liston.

Be mesmerised by Undercliffe Falls, just out of Liston. Located on the Bookookoorara, Creek, the falls descend 150 metres, over a 30 metre wide rock face, into a deep pool ideal for swimming.
